How do you define your role as an attorney?
I’ve always believed that my role as an attorney goes beyond just what I do in the courtroom; that as an individual attorney and the law firm that I’ve been associated with for over 30 years, we have an obligation to the greater community. Our lawyers are often involved in charitable events — we contribute to a number of charitable organizations. From the legal profession, we are contributors in terms of writing articles, giving seminars, we are involved at the law schools. We do a number of things that we know will benefit the overall practice of law, and in return we are always rewarded when we extend ourselves to better the profession and to better society. The rewards are always coming back to us as well.
