Man killed in UI construction accident

49-year old Tom Fosdick of Cedar Rapids passed away Wednesday after succumbing to injuries sustained after falling in a construction accident on the University of Iowa campus on Monday. ¬†Iowa’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident to determine if anyone is at fault in the accident and whether or not there should be charges for wrongful death.

Fosdick was working for Swanson Glass at the time of the accident. ¬†Swanson was hired by the university and general contractor Miron Construction of Wisconsin to work on the renovations to the exterior of University of Iowa’s Boyd Law Building.

Currently, OSHA has fined Miron Construction $15,293 for 19 safety violations.

Iowa farmer killed in a farm accident

An Iowa farmer was killed in a farm accident last Tuesday. According to police reports, the accident occurred in Bellevue.

The man apparently was operating a piece of machinery when it fell over and hit him. The man’s body was later found by a co-worker the next day.

An eastern Iowa man was killed in a tractor accident last week. According to police reports, the accident occurred near Bellevue.

The man apparently was spreading manure when the machine he was operating overturned and killed him. The man’s body was found by a co-worker.
