A man from Council Bluffs was charged with vehicular homicide Wednesday. While Christopher Kopelciw was driving down Interstate 80 over 100 mph Aug. 24, his car hit another car from behind.
In the accident, Adam Burk from Carter Lake was killed. After investigating the accident, authorities discovered that the accident was caused by Kopelciw swerving in and out of traffic.
Along with Burk’s death, Kopelciw and two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

A 66-year-old man from Hamilton was struck by a freight train and killed Tuesday afternoon. William Roy Mudd was hit by the train while leaving the Keokuk Yacht Club at 2029 River Road in Keokuk.
Police officials said they would not speculate as to why Mudd was so close to the train tracks when the freight train hit him. And so far, no witnesses have come forward to report that they saw the accident.
