Interstate 35 in west Des Moines, Iowa was shut down for several hours overnight after a car hit a pedestrian at around 11 p.m. on Monday, October 26 just south of Mills Civic Parkway.
According to preliminary police investigations, a man, whose identity has not been released by authorities pending the notification of his family, was walking along the lanes of I-35 when a vehicle struck him.
The victim is receiving treatment in a hospital, but his current physical condition has not been made available to the public.
Police said the driver who hit the man has cooperated with all investigations made by the authorities and has yet to be charged for the accident.

A hit and run incident, which occurred shortly before 2am Friday along Welch Avenue in Campustown, Iowa, is now being investigated by Ames police.
According to an Ames officer in Campustown, Shawn Molitor, 22, was crossing Welch Avenue when he was struck hard by a black pickup driven by Jimmy Hatley. After the accident, Hatley was seen quickly fleeing the scene. However, ISU officers were able to catch up and arrest the suspect. He is now being held at the Story County Jail for charges of reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle, OWI 1st, and leaving the scene of a serious injury accident.
Molitor is now in critical condition at the Mercy Medical Center.

A 22-year-old woman was recently arrested and charged with hitting a baby in a stroller when she drove her vehicle over a curb in Waterloo on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred at 8:15 p.m. on Baltimore Street after the woman had been in a fight with several people who stood on the street’s sidewalk. The woman got into her vehicle and repeatedly tried to drive over the curb in order to hit the people that she had been fighting with. One of the people had a baby in a stroller on the sidewalk, and the woman hit the baby’s stroller when she drove onto the curb.
The woman fled the scene of the accident, only to later turn herself into police officers. The baby was not injured during the incident, and the woman was charged with reckless driving and driving with an intent to cause personal injury.
