34 years of prison for man found guilty of Des Moines hit-and-run

The man who caused the death of a bicyclist in Des Moines, Iowa last year was sentenced to 34 years in prison on Friday, June 17.

The defendant was convicted of six charges in relation to a 2015 hit and run last May – homicide by vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, leaving the scene of a personal scene accident, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and operating a motor vehicle while barred.

According to court documents, the defendant was drunk when he hit the victim, causing his death.
