How long does it take to resolve a workers’ compensation case?

Depends on the case. I tell people all the time that if they come to me and I file a contested case with the Iowa workers’ compensation commissioner, they will have a hearing within a year’s time. They may not have a decision for months after the hearing, but that’s the basic time table. But it all depends on the type of injury and the recovery the person has from that injury.
