Des Moines inmate dies from traumatic brain injury

Posted on June 16th, 2010 No Comments

A Clarinda Correctional Facility inmate died suddenly of a possible brain injury Wednesday in Des Moines.  He was found during recreation time face down on a table.  Medical personnel were sent to attempt to revive 44-year-old Alfred Eugene Myre, but he was soon pronounced dead.  Authorities first believed that Myre’s death was caused by brain injuries sustained from a previous motorcycle accident.  However, an autopsy found the cause of death to be by blunt force and internal bleeding.

Myre was imprisoned on murder charges in September 1991 and was set to serve 50 years.  Authorities are continuing to investigate his death.
