A dangerous trench collapse seriously threatened the health and safety of a plumbing contractor in Des Moines last Thursday. The worker was working in a trench in a new housing development at 909 Northeast Chambers Parkway when it collapsed. When rescue teams reached the worker, they found him underneath nearly a foot of dirt. He was alert and able to speak with rescue workers as they pulled him from the trench.
While the exact cause of the workplace accident is not yet known, an investigation into the cause of the collapse is being conducted by the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health administration.
