One person suffered minor injures Tuesday night after a minivan collided with a city bus in Cedar Rapids.

The injured, who was a passenger on the bus, complained of leg pain and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital. According to authorities, the male driver of the minivan was turning left at the intersection of 42 Street NE and Council Street NE when the accident occurred.

Police have charged him with failing to yield while turning left and for driving without insurance. His car sustained front-end damage and the bus suffered minor damage. The scene was cleared less than an hour later.

An Iowa City school bus was involved in a crash on Highway 218. Several students were on board when the bus flipped and rolled over on its side.

Seven people were injured in the school bus crash, six of them were students and one was the bus driver. The Iowa City School District bus first went into the median and then onto its side.

A Highland Community School District bus came to the scene to transport students to an area hospital. The southbound lanes were shut for nearly an hour and a half while emergency crews cleaned up. The investigation into the accident is still going on at this time.
