Gymnast testifies in injury lawsuit

According to an article of KCCI, opening arguments for the trial in the case filed by a woman in Des Moines, Iowa who was hurt by a drunk driving accident are underway. The plaintiff is the aunt of an Olympic gymnast, and opening statements for her trial began last Tuesday, October 4.

The aunt is seeking $15 million in compensatory damages for injuries, which is equivalent to approximately $65/hour for the remainder of her lifespan. The gymnast, who is a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, testified in court, saying it was “really hard” to not see her aunt dance at her wedding six months ago.
