Man killed in UI construction accident

Posted on September 3rd, 2010 No Comments

49-year old Tom Fosdick of Cedar Rapids passed away Wednesday after succumbing to injuries sustained after falling in a construction accident on the University of Iowa campus on Monday.  Iowa’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident to determine if anyone is at fault in the accident and whether or not there should be charges for wrongful death.

Fosdick was working for Swanson Glass at the time of the accident.  Swanson was hired by the university and general contractor Miron Construction of Wisconsin to work on the renovations to the exterior of University of Iowa’s Boyd Law Building.

Currently, OSHA has fined Miron Construction $15,293 for 19 safety violations.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Fosdick’s family and friends during this difficult time.
